For hospitals

Two teams, one goal: sustainable quality improvement.

Unravel Healthcare Alliance provides resources for a sustainable, twelve-month TeamBirth implementation at perinatal units that qualify. The implementation is carried out by Unravel Healthcare’s implementation team, following a process refined over years of work in hospitals nationwide.

Twelve months Two phases

What a sponsorship covers

A twelve-month implementation, start to finish.

Design and site needs assessment

Leadership collaboration with our Unravel Healthcare implementation teams to understand how TeamBirth fits into your unit.

Implementation

Building a multidisciplinary implementation team, starting with a design session for your shared planning board, and your team’s training on TeamBirth behaviors and tools through curated learning sessions.

Launch

Planning boards installed in every room, and monthly coaching for your interdisciplinary care team through the first year.

Measurement

Patient and clinician surveys, a platform to collect them, and detailed analysis reported back to fine-tune the process in real time.

Community engagement

Outreach strategies to inform, educate, and partner with community organizations and the families your unit serves.

On completion, your hospital is eligible for TeamBirth Recognition.

Eligibility

Who we fund.

Rural or critical access

Rural, critical access, or sole community provider hospitals.

High Medicaid or uninsured share

A payer mix that makes a licensing line item hard to justify.

Low birth volume

Units where fixed costs land hardest on every delivery.

Maternity care shortage area

Counties designated as shortage areas, or that have lost obstetric services.

What you bring

What you bring to the table.

TeamBirth works when the unit commits to it. The following elements are essential for a successful, sustainable launch.

Committed leadership

A C-suite sponsor, a physician leader and a nurse leader, each with real influence on the floor.

A project manager and an implementation team

One named project manager, and a multidisciplinary team that attends the coaching and learning sessions and completes the work between them.

Training before launch

More than 80% of staff trained in TeamBirth principles, and boards installed in every patient room, before you go live.

Patient surveying

Staff commitment to patient surveying: a high response rate is essential for meaningful data.

How to apply

Getting sponsored, step by step

Four steps. The first step is usually the hardest part. It only takes ten minutes.

  1. Apply

Tell us about your unit: annual births, staffing, and what you’re trying to change.

  2. Talk it through

A 45-minute call with our implementation team to confirm fit and readiness.

  3. Get an answer

A decision, typically within 30 days, including the scope and timeline for the project.

  4. Launch it and sustain it

Comprehensive team training, planning boards in every room, and curated coaching through the first twelve months.
